About Nursing Department
The Department of Nursing in Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma advocates a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to provide excellent care and improve patient outcomes.The mission of this department is to develop competenciesrequired for evidence based professional practices which enhance the health and well-being of patients.Our endeavor is to provide patient and family centered care by involving them in all aspects of care in order to empower them and foster independency and informed decision making. The Department of Nursing is committed to providing a safe, caring and healing environment for its patients.
The Department also has a strong focus on promoting staff learning by using a variety of teaching methodologies such as interactive and real-time electronic communications, small-group and seminar discussions, skills demonstration and use of internet tools. Life saving courses, competency based courses, certified courses and bedside teaching are conducted on an ongoing basis. The life saving courses include Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) in collaboration with the Professional Development Center of Dow University of Health Sciences.
The Department of Nursing is actively involved and deeply invested in the implementation of correct infection control practices. Healthcare workers and all clinical units are monitored and audited for any breach of infection control practices on a regular basis. Overall, the Department of Nursing provides an outstanding service to all patients throughout the Trauma Centre, ensuring the highest standards of professional nursing care.
